Nick Garside
Intermediate Concert Band and Big Band ConductorNick has considerable experience 16 (or so) years as a freelance musician playing in a variety of professional big bands. His main instrument is the Bass Trombone, perorming with a number of different orchestras in the North of England including the Mowbray Orchestra, National Festival Orchestra and Leeds Sinfonia. Recent programmes have included Elgar’s ‘Music Makers’ and ‘Dream of Gerontius’, Vaughan Williams ‘Donna Nobis Pacem’, Mendelssohn ‘Elijah’ and Haydn ‘Creation’. Nick has also performed in many of the other choral works that the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus has performed. Nick's main role currently is as the Subject Leader for Music Technology and Performing Arts at Selby College. Here he set up a professional recording studio for the College five years ago and now runs a successful BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology.
